The Website Gets Refeathered...Again

So, for those few of you who have been reading this blog, you know by now that we went through 52 invitation revisions. Now, we're on website redesign number 3, and this is the last, (please don't roll your eyes), last revision!

After much deliberation, Justin and I decided that it only makes sense to have the website completely mimic our very involved invitations.

It's not perfect: some of the text is a bit blurry, the coloring has slight variation from page to page, and the images didn't quite look like they should, but we are finally content.

After clicking through the "April Tenth" link, you'll arrive at our home page, complete with a links to r.s.v.p., view wedding details, read this very blog, browse through our photos and videos, or send us a message. I'm very happy with the overall effect of the new site, which, I believe, is much closer to what we had originally aimed to create.

So, if you've received an invitation, please take a moment to check out our online r.s.v.p. site so that we can know how many tables I need to sew table runners for. Love you, as always.

I've got my love to keep me warm

"How many Ones Can you have?" Just the one.

"Jermaine: It's just that I think she might be the one.

Bret: Sally?

Jermaine: Yeah.

Bret: What makes you think that?

Jermaine: You just know. When it happens to you you'll know.

Bret: You said Michelle was the one.

Jermaine: Yeah, she's the one.

Bret: You said Claire was the one.

Jermaine: She's another one.

Bret: So you have more than one one?

Jermaine: Some people are lucky, I've had a few ones.

Bret: So how many ones can you have?

Jermaine: Five.

Bret: How many have you had?

Jermaine: Three. How many have you had?

Bret: Just one. Just one." - Flight of the Concords (Season 1)

Christmas is over. At last. Don't think me cruel or heartless for being tired of the holiday season (yes, Travis and Sarah, that song is finally, definitely dead. I can't even tell you how many times we've all song the first line of it--since we all somehow can't memorize the rest of the song--over the past year. Next year, we should most certainly find a different group sing-a-long). The last month has just been so stressful and exhausting. The last year, actually. From last Christmas until now, I've had one of the most frenetic, stressful, tear-filled, anxiety inducing years of my life. I can't tell you how often I've tried the outermost limits of Justin's patience and love. Thanks to an adorably stubborn man who simply refuses to give up on me and a heavy dose of Effexor, I'm feeling happier than I ever have. I'm thrilled at the prospect of 2009, more than ready to abandon the chaos of my first year as a graduated adult into the dusty archives of memory. With such a terribly short memory, too, I'm sure the mess I made of 2008 will all too soon fade away until only the dimmest impression lingers to betray my extraordinarily fallible nature.
Yesterday, in preparation for our new life together, Justin and I began moving his many belongings into my appartment. We decided, with the wedding looming closer, we should gradually integrate his possessions into that tiny lodging, so that we wouldn't feel the brute-weight of a last minute moving chrisis before the wedding. Obviously, Justin will still live in Sanger until we get married, but it's still nice to have some of his things lining my crowded shelves and filling that so-long vacant half of the closet. They are small, blurry visions of what life will be like living with my love.

a little over 3 months or 104 days away...

Justin Takes Finals; Jenny Watches Justin Study.

It's been a crazy week. Justin's grandma got sick and was hospitalized; Justin's been studying with a vengeance; I've been falling asleep earlier and earlier (feeling sleepy at 6:30 p.m. is just wrong on so many, perverse levels). I think that we are all very grateful that the week is almost over and pretty soon that Pat will get to return home to her lonely dog, Max, and bird, and that Justin will finally, FINALLY be free of home work, turnarounds, and finals!

Maybe Justin won't be so glad when he sees the stack of 375 invitations that he has to help me construct, cut, tape, glue, sew, stuff, address, stamp, and mail over the next two weeks. Regardless, I'm happily awaiting the days when coming home from work will be the beginning of relaxation rather than just more, though slightly varied, work. It's hard to imagine that a time even exists like that, after a year of GRE, applications, wedding planning, moving, and the like.

The point: I'm so happy that it's my wednesday (your Monday)! I'm only two days away from cake tasting and our engagement photo session! That makes me all smiles inside.

Chasingafterdear.com gets a family tree

Our website continues to evolve. Unfortunately, I've had to use scarce scraps of time to finish the site, piece by piece, but it's finally coming together. I have, at least, finished most of the pages, so that you can now view the wedding schedule, the family tree, the bridesmaids, groomsmen, r.s.v.p., and browse through a year of photos of me and Justin.
We have a registry page up as well, but its far from finished due mostly to our lack of time/desire to register anywhere. Over all, though, the wedding is coming together rather nicely. After months of planning, we finally settled on a wedding invitation, printed all 375 cards out, purchased the 26 spools of 1 1/4" sky ribbon from the Paper Source, and have begun the grueling production of sewing 75 invitations. As of this week, only two invitations are complete. (More posts on this later. I'll add the photos of invitation production so you can all see how ridiculously involved my DIY invitations have become.)

Thanks to Justin's Aunt, we're having our first wedding shower on January 3rd, 2009. Its theme is hours in the day (or something more eloquently phrased), so every person picks a time of day (morning, mid-morning, lunch, afternoon, evening, bedtime) and purchases an item that could be used during that time frame. For instance, someone who got a morning slot might purchase a stainless steel grind-and-brew coffee machine (yes, that was a shameless hint).
My bridesmaids have also taken it upon themselves to throw me a shower, though they shroud everything in mystery, so I have no idea what to expect or when the event will occur. Regardless, I'm sure it will be amazing, since they are all so creative and fun!

Beaucoup d'amour,

jenny
